Hanut is a leather patina diary that helps you catalog your leather goods, track patina progression, and document your collection over time. We respect your privacy and your ownership of your personal collection data.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Hanut mobile application (the "Service"), built for leather enthusiasts to track the evolution of their leather goods' color and character. This policy applies to all features of the Service, including item cataloging, photo timeline, patina comparison, color analysis, and maintenance logging.
Our core principle is simple: your leather collection is your personal property, and we designed Hanut to keep your data under your full control at all times.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information in the following two categories:
2.1 Content You Actively Create
All content you add to build your leather collection log is created voluntarily by you. This includes:
- Item profiles with brand, category, and name details for your leather goods
- Dated photographs you upload to track patina progression
- Usage notes and maintenance logs for care treatments (oils, conditioners, waxes)
- Any other custom data you add to your personal collection reference.
All color analysis, side-by-side comparison, and timeline generation is processed entirely on your local device. Your original photos and personal data do not get sent to our servers for any core feature processing.
2.2 Non-Personal Anonymous Usage Data
We may collect anonymous, non-identifiable usage data and crash reports to help us improve the Service, fix bugs, and add new features. This data never includes any of your personal collection content or identifiable information.
2.3 Information You Provide to Us Voluntarily
If you contact us for support, feature requests, or any other communication, we will only keep the information you choose to share with us to respond to your request.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use any information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the core functionality of Hanut, including enabling search, filtering, patina comparison, and maintenance tracking for your collection
- To fix technical issues and prevent errors or security vulnerabilities in the Service
- To develop new features based on aggregate anonymous usage patterns
- To respond to your requests or communications when you reach out to us.
We never use your personal collection content for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose unrelated to the core service you use Hanut for.
4. Data Storage and Sharing
By default, all your personal collection data (photos, profiles, logs) is stored only on your own device. Hanut does not store any of your personal content on our servers.
If you choose to enable cloud sync to back up your data, your data will be stored in your personal cloud storage account (controlled by you and your cloud provider's privacy policy). We do not have access to your synced data.
We never sell, rent, or share your personal identifiable information or collection content with any third parties for commercial purposes. We will only disclose information if required to comply with applicable legal requirements.
5. Third-Party Services
Hanut uses device permissions (camera, storage, cloud access) only to provide core functionality: to let you take/access photos of your leather goods, save your data, and sync your collection if you choose. Any third-party services you use through Hanut (such as cloud storage providers) are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
6. Your Rights & Data Control
Since all your data is stored on your device and (optionally) your personal cloud account, you retain full control over your data at all times. You can:
- Edit, delete, or export any individual item or your entire collection at any time
- Delete all your data permanently by uninstalling the Hanut app from your device
- Request deletion of any support-related data we hold from your communications with us at any time.
7. Children's Privacy
Hanut is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected information from your child, please contact us to have this information removed.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or service functionality. We will notify you of any material changes through the app and update the effective date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
